Please accept our invitation to paint and compete, en plein air, in historic Clifton Va. on May 16-19, 2019. (rain or shine)
We have a special setting that includes historic homes and a barn, beautiful gardens, gazebo in the park, winding lanes and a winding creek, waterside home, a railroad crossing with caboose, and a donkey named "jackpot". In our small, one square mile town, you don't have to go far to find a quaintness waiting to be painted and interpreted with your inspiration.
For your endeavors, there are cash prizes.

Artwork entered must be original. Art painted from photographs is not permitted
All work must be completed during the Clifton Plein Air Festival and must display the event stamp received at Check-In.
Art Guild of Clifton may refuse to accept artwork for judging that it deems unacceptable or inappropriate.

All artists register and have their canvases and/or papers stamped in front of Villagio , 7145 Main Street, Clifton VA, 20124.
Artists may begin painting or drawing once canvases or papers are stamped. There is no limit on the number of canvases/paper that can be stamped, but only two (2) may be submitted for judging. Please provide floor or table top easels for works to be judged and displayed. Canvases need not be framed and no picture hanging system is provided.
May 19: All Day to 3:00pm – Continue painting as needed until 3:00 pm when artists will deliver their artwork by 3:30 pm for judging. Late comers will not have their pieces judged.
3:30-4:00pm - Judging: Registered artists may submit up to two (2) pieces for judging.
Works will be displayed on the artist’s floor or table top easel. Canvases need not be framed and no picture hanging system is provided. Entries must be completed during the event and must display the event stamp.
Location for Judging: The Wine Attic, 7145 Main St., Clifton VA 20124 (above Villagio's restaurant)
4:00-6:00pm – Awards and Wet Paint Sale: Winners will be announced at 4:00pm. Following the awards presentation, all artwork produced during the event (and displaying the event stamp) may be offered for sale. While it’s not mandatory, the AGC strongly encourages artists to make their artwork available for sale, as our promotion of the event emphasizes offerings of original wet paint art works for purchase.
Sales: All sales are final and will be processed by the AGC with payment to the artist, by check, taking place within one week following the event.
Commission on Sales: Art work sold at this event is subject to a 15% commission for the AGC to support ongoing art programs and education.
Parking: There is free parking in designated spaces throughout the town for all participants and friends.
Acceptable Locations: Artists may paint anywhere within the incorporated town of Clifton and at a select waterside home. Please do not block any driveways or set up on private property without the resident's permission.
Please provide floor or table top easels for works to be judged and displayed. Canvases need not be framed and no picture hanging system is provided.
