Oil Painter
Nick studied at the Academy of Art in San Francisco where he received his B.F.A. and graduated with honors. He studied both Illustration and Fine Art.
He enjoys painting from life and has a great appreciation for nature and people which shows in his work. He frequently travels with his easel in tow to paint on location en plein air, surrounded by his subject, all his senses engaged to capture the true direct human experience. He uses his studies to serve as the foundation for his larger works. Nick believes the pursuit of knowledge fuels creativity and he continues to experiment and study from artists past and present to find inspiration, most notably the Artists from the late nineteenth century and the golden age of American illustration.
After a decade studying and painting in California, Nick has returned to Washington, D.C.. He has found inspiration in his new surroundings and is re-exploring the area with a painter's eye. He currently resides in Clifton, where he teaches private workshops, emphasizing painting from life. He serves as president of the Art Guild of Clifton and he is also a member of the California Art Club, and Portrait Society of America.
